Privacy Policy

When you create an account we collect your name, email address, profile photo (if you add one) and the sign-in identifier issued by our secure authentication provider. Passwords are never stored by StyleBook Ontario.

Your account record lets us show your bookings, favourites, reviews and messages, and lets professionals recognise returning clients. You can update or remove this information at any time from your account, or by requesting deletion.

When you book an appointment we record the professional, the service selected, the requested date and time, the appointment status and any notes you provide.

We share the details a professional needs to deliver your appointment — your name, contact email, selected service and appointment time. Professionals may not use that information for anything other than fulfilling your booking.

Payments are processed by Stripe, including Stripe Connect payouts to professionals. StyleBook Ontario never sees or stores your full card number, CVC or bank credentials — those are collected directly by Stripe on their PCI-DSS compliant infrastructure.

• We store a payment reference, amount, currency, status and timestamp for each booking.
• Stripe processes card details, fraud signals and payout information under its own privacy policy.
• Professionals receive payout and tax information from Stripe directly, not from us.
• Refunds and disputes are handled through the same Stripe records tied to your booking.

Professionals who list on StyleBook Ontario provide business details that are shown publicly: business name, specialty, city, biography, portfolio photos, services, prices, ratings and verification status.

Verification and payout onboarding may require identity documents, which are collected and held by Stripe as part of Connect onboarding. We retain only the resulting verification status.

Messages exchanged between clients and professionals are stored so both parties have a record of what was agreed. We may review conversations when investigating a report, a payment dispute, a safety concern or a suspected breach of our Terms of Service.

Keep conversations on the platform: off-platform arrangements are not covered by our protections.

We use a small number of cookies and similar technologies:

• Essential cookies keep you signed in and secure your session — these cannot be disabled.
• Preference cookies remember choices such as your city or recent searches.
• Analytics cookies help us understand which pages and features are used.

You can clear or block cookies in your browser settings, though essential cookies are required for sign-in and booking to work.

We collect aggregated usage data — pages viewed, searches performed, device type, approximate region and referral source — to improve search results, page speed and the booking flow. We do not sell personal information and we do not use your booking or message content for advertising.

Data is transmitted over encrypted connections (TLS) and stored on access-controlled infrastructure. Access is limited to staff who need it to operate the marketplace, and payment credentials never reach our systems.

We keep booking, payment and review records for as long as required for tax, accounting and dispute-resolution purposes under Canadian and Ontario law. Other account data is deleted or anonymised when you close your account.

Under PIPEDA you may request access to your personal information, ask for corrections, withdraw consent, or request deletion of your account. Submit deletion requests on our Delete Account page, or contact us and we will respond within 30 days.
