Terms of Service

These terms form the agreement between you and StyleBook Ontario when you browse, book or provide services through our marketplace. By using the platform you accept them.

Last updated August 2026

1. The marketplace model

StyleBook Ontario is a marketplace. We connect clients with independent barbers, braiders and beauty professionals. We do not employ professionals, own salons or perform services ourselves.

Each appointment is a contract between the client and the professional. StyleBook Ontario provides discovery, scheduling, messaging and secure payment processing to support that contract.

2. Accounts and eligibility

You must be at least 16 years old (or have consent from a parent or guardian) to hold an account, and you must provide accurate information. You are responsible for activity that takes place under your account.

3. Bookings

A booking is requested when you select a service, date and time and complete checkout. The professional confirms availability; if they cannot accommodate the appointment, the booking is cancelled and any authorised payment is released or refunded.

Service descriptions, durations and prices are set by professionals. Arrive on time — professionals may shorten or decline a service if you arrive late.

4. Cancellations and no-shows

  • Each professional sets a cancellation window, typically 24 hours before the appointment.
  • Cancel inside that window and you may be charged a cancellation fee set by the professional.
  • No-shows may be charged the full service amount.
  • If a professional cancels, you receive a full refund and we help you rebook.

5. Payments

Payments are processed by Stripe. Prices shown include the service amount and any platform or processing fees displayed at checkout, and are charged in Canadian dollars. Applicable taxes are added where required.

Professionals are paid through Stripe Connect, usually within a few business days of a completed appointment. Payout timing is controlled by Stripe and the professional's bank.

6. Refunds

Refunds follow the professional's published cancellation policy. If a service was not delivered, was materially different from its description, or the professional did not attend, contact support within 7 days of the appointment and we will review the booking, messages and payment record.

Approved refunds are returned to your original payment method through Stripe. Dissatisfaction with an outcome that matches the agreed service is resolved directly with the professional where possible.

7. Provider responsibilities

  • Hold all licences, certifications and insurance required in Ontario for the services offered.
  • Meet provincial and municipal health, sanitation and safety standards.
  • Keep listings, prices, availability and portfolio images accurate and your own.
  • Honour confirmed bookings and communicate promptly through platform messaging.
  • Complete Stripe Connect onboarding and remain responsible for your own taxes and remittances.

8. Customer responsibilities

  • Provide accurate contact details and disclose allergies or scalp and skin conditions before service.
  • Arrive on time and cancel within the published window when plans change.
  • Treat professionals and their premises with respect.
  • Pay through StyleBook Ontario so your booking stays protected.
  • Leave reviews that are honest and based on a real completed appointment.

9. Prohibited activities

  • Taking bookings or payments off-platform to avoid fees or protections.
  • Fraudulent payments, chargeback abuse or fake bookings.
  • Fake, incentivised or retaliatory reviews.
  • Harassment, discrimination, hate speech or threatening behaviour.
  • Uploading content you do not own, or impersonating another person or business.
  • Scraping, reverse engineering, or interfering with the security of the platform.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these rules, and we may withhold payouts associated with fraudulent activity.

10. Limitation of liability

The platform is provided "as is". StyleBook Ontario does not guarantee the quality, safety, legality or outcome of any service booked through the marketplace; that responsibility rests with the professional who performs it.

To the maximum extent permitted by Ontario law, StyleBook Ontario is not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the fees we collected on the booking giving rise to that claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

11. Changes and governing law

We may update these terms; material changes will be announced on the platform. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised terms. These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada.
